Why can't I receive emails on my yahoo account?

My smart phone was stolen which had my email on it so i was forced to delete my old email and make a new one. I created the new email and received the welcome email from yahoo. however, I have not been able to receive any other emails. I was able to send an email to my sister. she replied and received a mailer daemon email. I never received the email. What is wrong?
