Why am i getting emails about mail i didnt send?

my email account is gettin mailer daemon messages about being unable to deliver the mail i sent. i looked into it and i am not sending these emails. they are all being sent to people in my contacts list. i am also sending messages to my friends on facebook that i am not aware of.
