Suppose you need to resurface a dome on some important building...?

You could calculate volumes of two half domes, one 0.05cm larger in radius than the other, and take the difference for the volume in cubic centimeters. Or you can come to a close enough answer your way, since the thickness is so small compared to the radius. Try it both ways and see if there is an appreciable difference.
