Is it possible to deactivate your Yahoo account, but not delete it?

I was wondering if it's possible to deactivate it, but not delete it. I've had times where I've e-mailed people and it will say the account's deleted, only to be there again 3 days later, despite what the mailer daemon said. So... is it really possible?
